Celebrating 100 Years of Sir David Attenborough

Posted: 8th May 2026

Yesterday, our pupils enjoyed a wonderful day of learning and discovery as we celebrated the 100th birthday of the remarkable Sir David Attenborough, whose work has inspired generations to explore, appreciate and protect the natural world.

Throughout the day, children learnt about Sir David’s extraordinary contributions to wildlife conservation, environmental awareness and scientific understanding. They explored the many important topics he has helped bring to global attention, including endangered species, rainforests, oceans, habitats, climate change and the vital role conservation plays in protecting our planet for future generations.

Adding to the excitement, pupils were invited to bring in their favourite animal teddy companions to accompany them throughout the day. The children enjoyed sharing their chosen animals with friends and taking part in a variety of engaging activities inspired by them.

From researching fascinating animal facts and creative storytelling to discussing habitats and environmental challenges, the day provided countless opportunities for curiosity, creativity and learning. It was particularly heartening to see the children’s enthusiasm for the natural world and their growing understanding of the importance of caring for wildlife and the environment.

The celebration served as a fitting tribute to a man whose passion for nature continues to inspire young people around the world to ask questions, seek adventure and become responsible stewards of our planet.

We wish Sir David Attenborough a very happy 100th birthday and thank him for a lifetime dedicated to helping us better understand and appreciate the extraordinary world we share.
