Preparation for 11+

At Clarendon Cottage Prep School, we prepare children for moving on to a wide variety of secondary schools. Ranging from Independent Grammar Schools, the Trafford Grammar Schools and local state secondary.

As an Independent School we are not restricted by the National Curriculum. Our curriculum is personally structured and, in the later years, geared every step of the way for those who wish to take senior school examinations at 11+. Essentially, the curriculum remains broad and balanced with a continued emphasis on creativity, questioning and independent thinking.

Our preparation for the secondary school examinations starts as soon as you join us at Clarendon! Our curriculum from the age of 3 offers opportunities for the foundational skills that support Reasoning to be explored. Our formal Reasoning lessons start from Year 1, and parents will receive information about their child’s progress in this area of learning 3 times a year. This enables us to closely monitor, track and support children where needed for the best outcomes.

We work with every family individually, tailoring the preparation and guidance for their individual aspirations. We offer advice and support to both children and parents throughout the process.
