ABOUT US
As part of Clarendon Cottage Preparatory School, it is not
surprising that we are passionate about education and with
the Early Years at the school rated “Excellent” there is a strong
educational thread that feeds right the way down through the
nursery groups. Within the nursery we provide enabling
environments, stimulating activities and a dedicated childcare
team to help you give your child the best possible start across
all aspects of learning. Children are encouraged to thrive and
be themselves by following their own interests; whether that
is being loud and energetic whilst playing in our outdoor
provision or quiet and concentrated whilst sitting in a cosy
area of the classroom reading a story. There is always the
opportunity to explore, investigate and discover something
new!
WHERE WE CAME FROM
Clarendon
Cottage
Preparatory
School
is
a
small
school
committed
to
delivering
a
thoroughly
modern
and
creative
curriculum
through
traditional
values
and
practice.
We
place
high
expectations
on
good
conduct,
politeness,
courtesy,
honesty
and
respect
to
create
a
unique
and
warming
environment
that
allows
each
of
our
children
to
flourish
as
the
individual
characters
they
are
as
a
key
part
of
our
close
knit
school
family.
Established
in
1991,
our
school
has
consistently
maintained
an
excellent
track
record
of
academic
achievement;
with
children
consistently
passing
entry
exams
for
top
Grammar
Schools
and
the
Trafford
11+
and
joining
the
secondary
school
of
their
choosing.
Our
challenging
curriculum
and
holistic
approach
to
your
child’s
development
will
nurture
your
child
both
academically
and
socially
to
ensure
that
they
achieve
their
very
best
and
are
well
prepared
to
tackle the next stage in their education and future.
Clarendon
Cottage
Preparatory
School
began
as
The
Cottage
Nursery,
when
my
husband,
Jeff,
and
I
were
looking
around
the
local
area
for
childcare
options
for
our
own
children.
However,
what
we
found
was
that
no
existing
nursery
offered
the
kind
of
care
we
envisioned
for
our
children.
We
wanted
a
nursery
that
would
provide
wrap
around
care
and
lots
of
fun
whilst
also
putting
an
emphasis
on
early
reading,
writing
and
maths.
This
simply
didn’t
seem
to
exist.
So
the
idea
of
doing
it
ourselves,
providing
our
own
children
and
others
with
the
care
we
wanted,
was
ignited.
Jeff
and
my
sister,
Sarah
(already
working
in
child
care),
left
their
jobs
and
we
sold
the
family
home,
moving
in
above
the
nursery
whilst
we
were
doing
work
on
the
building
and
getting
it
ready.
Then
finally
in
1989
we
opened
The
Cottage
Nursery, and we haven’t looked back since.
Our
ethos
of
early
education,
excellent
care
and
lots
of
fun
proved
to
be
so
successful
that
our
parets
didn’t
want
to
go
else
where
when
their
children
reached
school
age;
they
kept
asking
us
why
we
couldn’t
open
a
primary
school
so
they
didn’t
have
to
leave,
and
so
Clarendon
Cottage
Preparatory
School
was
born.
It
opened
in
September
1991
in
an
upstairs
room
of
the
nursery;
with
one
mixed
infant
class
and
one
teacher.
As
our
first
year
group
grew
older
and
we
welcomed
more
children
into
the
school
we
realised
one
room
wasn’t
going
to
be
enough.
After
moving
a
couple
of
times
we
bought
Ivy
Bank
House
from
the
local
authority
in 1994 and the school had its home.
We
have
since
grown
even
further,
acquiring
our
sister
nursery
Monton
Village
School
in
1999.
Our
original
ethos
of
traditional,
quality
education
in
a
family
environment
is
still
at
the
heart
of
what
we
do.
The
founding
three
are
still
involved
in
the
School;
Sarah
and
Jeff
as
Company
Directors
among
other
roles
and
myself
in
primarily
a
consultancy
role.
Family
is
at
the
heart
of
all
we
do
and
the
businesses
future
is
no
different;
in
2009
our
eldest
daughter,
Emily,
joined
the
school
as
a
teacher,
after
completing
degrees
in
both
in
Ancient
History
and
Archaeology
and
a
PGCE.
After
several
years
teaching
Emily
moved
into
development
of
our
nurseries
and
school
before
then
joining
the
Board
of
Directors
and
becoming
Head
Teacher.
More
recently,
our
youngest
daughter,
Lizzie,
has
joined
the
company,
after
completing
her
degree
in
Business
Management
(HR
Specialism).
As
previous
students
of
the
Prep
School,
both
Emily
and
Lizzie
are
passionate
about
ensuring
that
other
children
can
receive
the
same
high quality, all round, caring education they themselves once received.
